Just back from 9 days in the park. A bit worn out. Didn't get nearly as many photos as normal, but the few I got I am happy with. This one was just one of those moments when you know you got the shot.
Had a face-to-face grizzly bear encounter on Wednesday night while camping in the Gallatin Forest about 8 miles west of West Yellowstone. Grizzly sow and her cub woke me up making noise outside my tent. I peaked out with my flashlight to see the very large sow standing about 6-8 ft. from me. Quite a scare, but after a few moments of clear thought, was able to scare it off with lots of loud hollering and arm waving.
I spent the rest of the night sleeping in the car.
