That's miles and miles out of the way if you're coming from the east; You'd have to drive through Yellowstone and north roughly 70 miles from north entrance to get to Livingston. If you want to stay someplace near Mammoth, look at Gardiner, which is exactly at the north entrance. I (and lots of people) like the Absaroka Lodge there.
