trying to drive the Joseph & end up outside the park to stay the night. We can go in the NE entrance if we get there early enough on the 17th & then go back out the same way for the night. If we do that, where would you recommend? We just have to be at Mammoth in time to check-in the afternoon of the 18th & then can head back out to Lamar or somewhere else for wildlife watching until sunset. I don't know how long it will take us to get from Casper to Yellowstone taking the Chief Joseph. Is Cody worth a side trip? We are country folks so all the cowboy stuff isn't all that interesting to see in a museum. Thanks for the advice about the Absaroka Lodge. It looks like a nice place. Wish it had a hot tub, would love that after a two day drive.
