Yellowstone Vacation

My wife and I are considering a vacation to see Yellowstone and the Tetons. We're looking for suggstions on the best place to fly into, the best place to stay. etc. Should we stay in a resort with a rental car or should we rent an RV once we're in Wyoming? We're planning on staying a week in consjunction with Labor Day weekend. If we stay at a resort whould we stay in Yellowstone or just outside? If Outside is it best on the North or West side?
