Late September can be hit or miss. I have had good Septembers and bad Septembers. (bad as in little wildlife sightings beyond elk & bison). Have hit the rut and have been early on the rut while going the 3rd week both times. For the greatest variety of sightings I would shoot for a May/June visit. Great time for seeing animals.
