...to get rid of giardia. but it's lighter than either, and she did say she wanted to carry as little as possible. Personally, I'd take a filter rather than bleach. They aren't that heavy, just a little bulky if you're using a day pack. I really like my Sweetwater filter.

BTW, Nancy, if you do use bleach, the bleach should have chlorine in it, like Chlorox. You have to wait 30 minutes for the bleach to kill the bugs too.
