I just don't want to go in july or august. we were there july 29th last year. we spent a few early morning hours and left because we saw the hordes of buses ready to descend on the park. we are thinking basically after labor day. has beartooth ever been closed in early sept.

for camping if we take the van we'll just park near lamar valley and sleep for a few hrs.
believe me it can be done. my mom and I drove over beartooth in the middle of the night hoping there would be a motel room in cooke city. there wasn't any. we drove through lamar valley and saw no one. pretty neat way to enter yellowstone - middle of the night.
is going to the sun rd ever closed in sept?
